Hummels began as drawings at a convent in Munich, Germany by Sister Maria Innocentia. However, a man, Franz Goebel, was looking for new art/artist became aware of her drawings. Later, he convinced her to make figurines of her drawings. Hence the Hummel and Goebel connection.
These cards will be a perfect gift for the M I Hummel collection. Perfect gift anytime of the year but an especially thoughtful for Christmas with the boy angel holding the candle…looking hopeful. This is the time of the year to believe in Hope.
I have tried to date the cards to no avail. I believe the cards were printed prior to the Early 1990’s due to Made in USA as well as there is no copyright date on the back nor an internet address.
These cards were purchased from a church affiliated store in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Many of the items in the store were over 50 years old.
